Constant Parallelogram Area Property of Hyperbola

2019-06-04 11:01
This GeoGebra example demonstrates a fundamental geometric property of hyperbolas: for any point P on the hyperbola, the parallelogram ORPQ formed by drawing lines through P parallel to the asymptotes has a constant area equal to ab/2, where a and b are the semi-major and semi-minor axes respectively. The applet allows toggling the display of foci, vertices, asymptotes, and the auxiliary rectangle
